FAQs

Q: How do I schedule an appointment?
A: If you are a new customer, we will schedule your first appointment with you on the phone. Our existing customers will receive a calendar for the year with their day and time on it which stays consistent throughout the year (example 1st Wednesday at 10:00 am)

Q: Do I need to stay at home all day and wait for service?
A: You will be given a two hour window for initial or one time services. Regular services are at a set day and time. Please give the technician a twenty minute window. If only the outside is being serviced, you do not need to be home at the time of service. We ask that you please leave your gate unlocked so we have access to the perimeter of your property.

Q: Do you offer discounts?
We offer a 10% discount to our customers who choose to pay a year in advance. We also offer a $25.00 discount for each client referred that signs up for a year.

Q: What insects does the general pest service cover?
A: Spiders, crickets, ants, silverfish, earwigs, roaches, centipedes and mice are generally covered under routine pest control services. However severe infestations may require more difficult treatment strategies and are charged accordingly.

Q: How may I pay for service?
A: Many of our customers are on our auto pay program, where we automatically charge their Visa, MasterCard or Discover card. We also do ACH drafts. You may also pay in advance.

Q: How much does pest control cost?
A: The price of pest control depends upon the square footage of the home. As the square footage gets larger, the price will increase. If the property lot size is extra large, the price will go up accordingly. For example, every other month (E.O.M.) service for a 1900 square foot house with an average lot would be $50.00 every other month. This would equal $25.00 per month for pest control service.

Q: Is there a price difference between interior and exterior service?
A: The price is not increased for interior treatment. The primary cost for general pest control is in the exterior treatment. The interior service is treated on a complimentary basis.

Q: Does my interior need to service at each visit?
A: No. It is recommended that the exterior is treated every other month (EOM). The interior needs to be treated only on an as needed basis.

Q: When you come to my home, where and what do you treat?
A: First, your technician will web dust and inspect your property and advise you of their findings as well as a strategic plan for managing the problem bugs. From that point, the technician will make pesticide applications to the insects hiding places as well as placing a chemical barrier around your home. This usually includes bases of windows and all entryways into the home. The interior treatment typically includes treating doorways, windows, under cabinets and other areas that insects can hide.

Q: What if I still notice bugs after my service?
A: Typically, it takes anywhere from 5 minutes to 10 days for a bug to die after it comes in contact with the chemical. It is also normal to see dead insects in or outside of your home after a service. If you are still seeing live bugs 10 days after your regular service, give us a call and we will take care of the problem at no charge.

Q: I keep a clean house. Why do I still have bugs?
A: Typically insects will come inside when outside conditions make it uncomfortable for them or they are looking for food and moisture. You have won half the battle with bugs if you keep a clean house and the exterior grounds do not offer the insect much in the way of harborage. The next part is to seal your home in a manner what excludes insects from the interior. Sealing plumbing fixtures inside and outside and adding weather stripping to doors will make a world of difference. It will also help save on your energy bills too!

Q: Do I have to leave my house during a service?
A: Usually not; our general pest control service is safe for you, your family and pets. However, during certain types of services such as fogging, all occupants must leave the home for a period of time. Our staff will be happy to explain the specifics to you.

Q: Is pest control service safe for my family and pets?
A: As a family owned company we hold the safety of your family and pets first and foremost. All chemicals used by Desert Pest Control are EPA certified. We are always using the latest safest products available. We also offer GREEN products which are organically based and environmentally friendly.

Q: Why do I need a pest control professional?
A: The pest management professional must be licensed with the Nevada State Department of Agriculture. Like many professionals, they are required to obtain a certain amount of Continuing Education Units per year to keep their license current. The untrained consumer, who purchases pesticide over-the-counter, can only make an intuitive judgment on how to properly apply the pesticide. However, the professional pest management technician relies on training, expertise and more sophisticated techniques to manage pests in an environmentally friendly manner.
